New StyleMDC starting awarding this style pin around 1993 as I remember. At the time I was awarded my first pin (the old style 5 year above), the old style pins were not automatically awarded, and the employee had a choice of gifts, one of which was the pin. The move to the new style pin brought with it a change in procedure, and the pins were once again automatically awarded (in addition to the employee's choice of gift). The new style pins were not jewelled, and only the number representing years of service changed. These pins have been superceded by the new style Boeing pins.

McDonnell Aircraft CompanyThese are in fact service pins of a sort, and both the gold and silver versions were awarded on the employee's first service anniversary. Apparently, no service pins were awarded after that.
